2020 was the year I started to lose my mind. How many of us felt and still feel that way? For me, it was a perfect storm of lockdown, navigating home schooling, a decline in my mental health, menopause, and the loss of my perfect plan after leaving my long-term career in October 2019. The rug was pulled from under me, and I found myself struggling with anxiety, feelings of hopelessness, and many sleepless nights. So I sat and googled “how can i stop losing my mind” and it was from that point that my interest in holistic practices was born.
We were blessed with sunny weather, so I started to meditate outdoors. I loved being physically grounded. I discovered Reiki and learned about energy healing. I went on a journey to reconnect with myself on increasingly deeper levels. Mindfulness practices allowed me to be in the moment when I had no control in a world out of control. I started to gather a toolkit of practices that I could use daily, making it easier to wake up and face each day. I knew that I could not control the world around me, but I could control how I felt and reacted to it. I began to find calm in the chaos.
I found myself calmer, less anxious, slept better, and was able to cope with life with a clearer head.
In 2022, I trained as a Reiki practitioner and found joy in helping others on their own healing journey. In 2023, I discovered breathwork. Menopause was taking a toll on my physical and mental health. I was able to tune and regulate my nervous system through simple breathing practices. I was trained as a breathwork and meditation teacher, another layer of my holistic toolkit. I started to feel empowered in looking after myself holistically.
In 2024, with a wealth of knowledge and nearly 30 years of working and supporting people, I decided to train as a Holistic Coach. I love supporting people at whatever stage of life they may be. Why? Because no one was ever there for me until I was 30!
